Fresh Start

'And suddenly, you know it's time to start something new, and trust the magic of beginnings.'
After having the busiest year, I think I've ever had, with some lows but some of the best highs, it's safe to say I lost track of writing a little a lot.
Reading and writing is something I have always loved doing, and I feel I haven't had time to do as much of it as I would have liked this year! All with good reason though.

This year has been incredible for me, and looking at my 'goals for 2016' post I can happily say I completed most of those goals. I managed to pass my driving test (3rd time lucky - it was as awful as I imagined it would be!), get my first car, I turned 21 with the most perfect celebrations and I graduated from University not only passing, but with a 2:1. Another personal goal of mine was to see somewhere in the world I had never been. This year I have been lucky enough to see 8 beautiful new places after visiting Portugal and then going on a cruise around the Med. I also got a film review published by my University magazine which although doesn't sound too exciting, it was something that became so important to me for personal reasons, and meant that I managed to squeeze some creative writing in amongst my thousands of essays and dreaded dissertation.

So, I think it's safe to say I have had a stress induced, essay writing, disastrous driving test taking, tear filled start to the year, but it has also been filled with endless achievements, one too many celebratory cupcakes, bottles of fizz, sightseeing, sunshine and days of pure happiness. All in all, its been one to remember, and although I wish there was one person that made it through this year to not only see all I had done, but be a part of it; I hope he will be looking down proudly.

Sorry for the long and self-absorbed post, I just wanted to update my page with why I have been absent when I had only just begun my blog (not that I suspect anyone is reading or even interested ha). I want to try and get myself into the swing of creating posts now, I feel I am ready for a bit of a new beginning - starting with the end of one job and the start of another, which is another goal I didn't think I would be fulfilling so quickly; all thanks to being in the right place at the right time. I feel super lucky to have known someone to help get me one step closer to where I eventually want to be, I have managed to get a job working for a Beauty company, doing several different general office duties, as well as writing the content for the website, product descriptions and copywriting. I seriously feel blessed to work with genuinely lovely, ambitious people that I feel will help me grow and support me in building my experience.

It wouldn’t be a positive ‘New Year’ post, if I didn’t include some aspirations for the year ahead. I think this year will be hard to beat in terms of achievements, however I feel it’s about the little things this time.

Put myself first: I often feel as though I don’t do this, and even things as little as having plenty of sleep, and treating myself every now and then really make a big difference. It is easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing, and how they are feeling but it is so important to think of yourself. Self-care has made it to the top of my list for the duration of the year.

Go somewhere new: After seeing so many incredible places last year, I have made it a goal to go to at least one new place each year, to add to my mini list of destinations. New York is one for the future, but I am thinking Amsterdam this year as it looks stunning.

Invest in a decent camera: I feel like I have always been creative, and even if it’s for my own enjoyment I don’t see why I shouldn’t get back into something a bit arty. Obviously photography and blogging go hand in hand, and seeing so many blogs for inspiration, I would love to give it a try, and use a good quality camera to capture personal memories as well!

Write as much and often as possible: I feel as though I should make this a high priority this year, but luckily with my job I find myself writing lots of beauty related blog posts and content for the website, which I enjoy and see as great practise. I am always looking to improve, and appreciate any help along the way.

I hope my posts will be enjoyed as much as I will enjoy creating them. I look forward to seeing what 2017 brings, and think it's time to finally focus on myself. Thanks to the handful of followers I have, and lets hope my teeny tiny blog can slowly begin to grow!

What are your goals for this year? And what is your  favourite memory of 2016?
