Goals for 2018


It's safe to say it's been a while since I've updated my blog, but I thought what better time to start fresh than at the beginning of a brand new year?! Although I am two weeks late to the 'New Year, New Me' party, here's a few of my goals for 2018.

My last goals post mentioned that I wanted to try and remain consistent with my blogging and practise my photography, but for some reason I've just not had chance to do that this year. I don't really have an excuse as to why I haven't properly got into it, but I reaaaally am hoping to smash the posts out this year. I also want to try and secure some freelance work in copy/content writing to earn a little extra money on the side and also to gain some more experience.

Some of you may be thinking 'goals post, (DJ Khaled voice) - another one?!' but I find it so refreshing to read everyone elses to see exactly what they're striving for this year as it only has a knock on effect and motivates me even more.

I've recently dragged myself back to bootcamp which is an exercise class 3 times a week at 6AM, that I've had a break from for the past couple of months, but decided it's something I really want to fit into my weeks again. Yes it's outside so yes it's cold and miserable, and yes it's painful BUT I felt so amazing last time I did it, it helped me get through my days at work, it gave me more energy, my skin looked better and it put me in the best mood possible considering I'm really not a morning person. So I've gone back and have completed about a week of it alongside a week of clean eating and have already lost 3 pounds! I did have an alcohol-fuelled Friday night which has written me off for the weekend though (I never want to see Tequila again) but I'll be ready to get back to it on Monday, I promise.. One of my goals is to really stick at some kind of exercise regime, and the gym just doesn't work for me, I need someone to stand there and push me to my limit - so bootcamp it is!

Another goal for this year was to visit somewhere I haven't been before, I was lucky enough to have more than one holiday this year and they were all equally amazing but I was determined to go somewhere exciting again. I've kinda already ticked this one off the list because this week I've booked to go to my absolute dream destination - New York with one of my best friends! I am SO excited it's unreal. I have so many places I want to see, and I'm sure you'll see a lot of New York related posts between now and June as I plan for it. If anyone has been to New York or has written any blog posts on it, please share them with me so I can check them out.

A slightly random but important goal of mine for this year is to raise some money for charity. My best friend and I have already discussed this briefly but we didn't get round to organising anything in 2017. We want to arrange an event to raise money for Breast Cancer which is something that is very close to my heart, so that is definitely on the cards for this year. I'd also love to do Race For Life as it's something I've always wanted to do (despite my inability to run lols), and I'm also going to take part in another Memory Walk for the Alzheimer's Association which is another charity that is special to me. It's so easy to do your bit to try and help!

I want need to save some pennies this year as I sadly still have my student overdraft to pay off, and I want to start saving for a new car as well. With New York on the cards, I really am going to have to give myself more of a budget so I can start collecting my spends. There's nothing more satisfying than saving your money for something worthwhile so I'm looking forward to ticking these off my list!

I'm hoping to also get back into reading books, as I'm sick of constantly being glued to my phone aimlessly scrolling only to find I've wasted a whole two hours doing nothing productive. I used to love a good read, and it'll make a nice change to start finding decent books to spend my evening with rather than my phone. I want to watch a new TV series a month as well because it's another way to unwind that gives me a break from social media. I've recently started Peaky Blinders which I'm hooked on, so once that's finished I want to find something else, also - HOW unreal was the second series of Stranger Things?! Basically my goals are to eat more healthily but stick to it, continue with my bootcamp, blog regularly and secure some freelance work. I also want to make sure I spend as much time as possible with loved ones, even those that don't live close, I need to make more of an effort to make plans and have as much fun as possible this year. I definitely want to make the most of 2018 and I'm so excited to see what this year brings!
