Winter Skincare Saviours

If you're anything like me and suffer from dry skin, then Winter is probably not your best friend. I find that it's the one time my skin flares up as the constant cold and windy conditions just don't agree with me.
I'm pretty good at sticking to a skincare routine (I have a weird phobia of sleeping with my makeup on, it literally goes through me..) but sometimes I have to switch my products up to get my skin looking back to its best.

After endless amounts of alcohol, no exercise and eating complete crap my skin was at its worst following the Christmas period and it made me feel g r i m. I had a few random breakouts, it was realllly dry and dehydrated and just looked dull. I also felt like there was something I was using in my routine that was potentially aggravating my dry skin even more. I decided to strip back anything fragranced or anything containing alcohol, and decided to add even more hydrating products to try and get my glow back! Here is the routine I have been using which in just a couple of weeks has seriously saved my skin!

To cleanse I personally prefer washing my face, and I've been loving The Body Shop's Camomile Silky Oil Cleanser. I had quite a few points on my Body Shop card and managed to grab one of these around Black Friday when there was 40% so I actually paid £2.00 for it, absolute bargain! The minute I used it I was really impressed, I used to love the Laura Mercier Purifying Cleansing Oil, but it was quite expensive and I do find oil-based products tend to go down fairly quickly so this was a great alternative. A few weeks down the line I am still loving it and found it really helps to lock the moisture in to my skin and it also gets every single trace of makeup off straight away.

If I don't feel like washing my face, I turn to the Body Shop's Vitamin E Cream Cleanser. Incase you can't already tell, I am a sucker for a lot of the Body Shop's products, particularly the Vitamin E range. This cleanser is really gentle and although it takes a little longer to remove my eye makeup it makes my skin feel soft and fresh.

After cleansing, I have been applying the Cougar Hyaluronic Acid Facial Oil which has made a huge difference to my dry skin. Not only does it smell incredible, but it doesn't feel too heavy or sticky on the skin, sinks in quickly and provides instant hydration. This is a step I don't ever miss now! Big thanks to my friend Jodie who kindly gave me one of these to try, I've just repurchased the set of three because it has worked so well, and they're really reasonably priced too which is always a plus.

Next I apply an eye cream which in all honesty I sometimes skip if I can't be bothered, but I do think it helps give an all over smoother texture to my face and improves my bags a bit! I'm using the Oolution Eye Contour at the minute which I received in a Glossy Box a few months back and it's still going strong.

I then apply a moisturiser, I've been switching between the Body Shop's Vitamin E Moisture Cream and the Body Shop's Vitamin C Glow Moisturiser, when my skin's at its best I use the glow cream but when it needs more moisture I reach for my trusty Vitamin E.

If I'm applying makeup I let my moisturiser sink in then use the Kiko Artic Holiday Serum as a primer which is looovely. It adds a subtle glow to your face and perfectly preps it for your foundation.

At night time I've been seriously impressed with the Origins Drink Up Intense Overnight Mask. I slather this on after following the above routine and my skin literally drinks it up. I wake up seeing a complete difference and after 3 days of using this my visible dry skin had completely cleared. This is definitely one of my Holy Grail products now!

I have a few things I want to add to my skincare routine that are currently on my wishlist. I have very recently purchased the Pixi Glow Tonic as I needed an exfoliating product that was gentle but effective and I've heard so many good things about it so I'm excited to start seeing results with that. The Glossier Moisturising Moon Mask and Exfoliating Skin Perfecter also sound fab so I will probably (definitely) be treating myself at the end of the month!

What are your ultimate skincare saviours? Can you recommend any products for me to try?
